Yes, doom saying is an historical phenomenon.  I hear tell
that a particularly hard year for our advanced simian race
was the year 1666.  That, incidentally, was also the year
that light was first intentionally broken down into its
component parts, then recombined to form white light.  The
spectrum, naturally revealed in rainbows, was explained by
