-Caveat Lector- Report: Troopers Posed With Women ROME, N.Y. (AP) - Eight state troopers evacuating concertgoers at the end of Woodstock '99 urged two young female fans to strip and then posed for photos when they were naked, The Post-Standard of Syracuse reported. ``Come on, I saw you do it all day today. Why not for us?'' one trooper said to the women, the newspaper reported Tuesday. The three-day music festival, which ended Sunday night, was generally peaceful until a mob set fire to tractor-trailers, a bus and several toilets during the closing act. Troopers in riot gear helped restore order before dawn Monday. The two women laughed and disrobed, posing with several troopers as other officers took pictures, the newspaper said. ``It was a little odd for us to get naked for the police, but hey, that's Woodstock,'' one of the women told the newspaper. ``Everybody just mellows out.'' State police are investigating. Lt. Jamie Mills said Tuesday that ``obviously, such allegations are disturbing and would be considered inappropriate.'' Reports of Rape at Woodstock '99 WASHINGTON (AP) - New York State Police are investigating allegations of four rapes at the Woodstock '99 festival last weekend, reports The Washington Post. A spokesman for the state police confirmed to the paper in today's editions that detectives are looking into the reports, with at least two of the alleged rapes purportedly taking place on the festival campgrounds. Police investigator David Krause told the Post one assault allegedly took place in front of the stage during a set by one of the musical groups. A 24-year-old woman from Pittsburgh told police that two men assaulted her and one of them raped her. ``Due to the congestion of the crowd, she felt that if she yelled for help or fought, she feared she was going to be beaten,'' the police investigation report said. Crisis intervention workers told the Post that they witnessed many more sexual assaults, some taking place in the mosh pit - the crowded area in front of the stage where concertgoers dance and thrash into each other. David Schneider, a rehabilitation counselor, said he saw women being pulled into the pit and having their clothes removed, before being assaulted and raped by men in the crowd. ``From my vantage point, it looked like initially there was a struggle, and after that there were other people holding them down,'' Schneider said. Sandy Lattimore, emergency services director of the Rome office of the American Red Cross, said she had treated multiple victims of sexual assaults that had taken place in the mosh pit. Rosemary Vennero, crisis service director of the YWCA of Mohawk Valley, said her organization's rape crisis center had counseled four sexual assault victims.
