THis happened just after the australian government passed it's internet censorship laws, that come into effect on jan 1st 2000. Not only do these laws cover the web, but mailing lists as well. Apart from the fact that my ISP is shutting down due to these laws, some of the postings on this list would attract the attention of the authorities here in AU. I am happy for this list to continue on, however, it would need to be hosted off- shore and I have neither the time nor resources for this to happen (unless someone wants to offer to host it?) So, with these things in mind, this list will officially die as of midnight, january 1st (dec 31st) 2000. At the moment, it is stagnant (as you've probably noticed) but will remain here incase I need to make any important postings. it seems that the australian government has finally found a way to beat people like myself, its a shame, they'll be burning books next. Also, if this legislation proves itself effective, you may very well find it knocking on your door - if it does, make a hell of a lot of noise to stop it.
