Re: APEC secure documents sent to fax machine in South Auckland
Chicken-processing factory...
Would have been about 9am NY time on Thursday, I think it was, when CNN
gave it quite a bit of coverage. Might be on their site. Front page of
NZ Herald, main newspaper in Auckland, earlier in week. You could try the
site of The Press, a daily which is published in Christchurch, or maybe
National Business Review, or Radio New Zealand.
The best part was the chap at the factory saying, "I rang the US Embassy
several times and asked them to stop sending them, but couldn't get any
action out of them".
The humour of it all was a welcome relief for a city feeling depressed and
gloomy at all the thousands of APEC circus people in town (roads blocked,
no hotel rooms available, difficulties in using airport, some people
temporarily laid off work because of transport problems, some small
businesses almost unable to function, no doubt a heap of extra miniaturised
transponder implants for the more restless natives so they can be tracked
easily...)
