I suggest that the subject header for this post is incredibly misleading.
Kabbalism's closest cousin is Gnosticism and both have long been attacked by
traditionalists for advocating a direct relationship with spirit and for
stating that a clergy is an unnecessary middleman. Priesthoods of various
kinds have, predictably, condemned such approaches. If one subtracts the
belief from the human psyche that someone needs to mediate one's
relationship with one's creator, the entirety of RELIGION [not to be
confused with SPIRITUALITY because spirituality is not primarily using false
divine dictates to control in pursuit of an always hidden agenda] dies.
Direct relating with one's creator is a bane to those who would control.
The "deadly fruit" of the Kabbalah is a sharp, spiritual mind. Kabbalah
embraces the taboo of using one's reasoning faculties to listen to god as he
speaks, and to interpret such speech. The only thing that reason is
"deadly" to is iGNOrance and institutions based on the propagation of
iGNOrance [unlike GNOsis].
