In a book by Michael Massing, The Fix, and pro and con reviews of it that were turned up by my inet search, it comes out that Nixon was implemented treatment with a much higher priority than enforcement. Oddly, Salon misses the point that Bush was one of the pirates who hijacked Nixon's two-pronged drug initiative, recommending that we need someone like Nixon, specifically a-son-of-a-Bush, to re-emphasize treatment. At that juncture, different reviewers disagree on whether to shut down enforcement at the same time, and Noam Chomsky says it's impossible to know what the effects of legalizing drugs would be, a statement that divides people into two camps, those who fear the unknown as high-risk, and those who don't. As far as Bushwhackers being "someone like Nixon" and like Reagan, the elder Bush Bushwhacked JFK, Nixon on the treatment versus enforcement drug-war, and Reagan with CIA-Crack and Boland Amendment violations and Latin American fascism and assassinations. "Like" is synonymous with counterfeit. A theme I can find in any page of Lyndon LaRouche writings is the identification of an anglophile-net cuckoo-egg like George Bush et al's version of Vietnam war in JFK's nest, Bush's enforcement drug-war in Nixon's treatment-over- enforcement nest, Bushwhacker's Iran-Contra CIA-Crack in Reagan's presumably Christian coalition nest. LaRouche calls it the anglophile-net's Delphic Oracle dominating the rap, the Newt[ Gingrich]ering cuckold egg and the loyal opposition in Hegelian dialect drowning out the third choice. LaRouche is one of many who trace the building up of an enemy to the anglophile-net making an enemy of Germany twice, laying a foundation for understanding the two WW's, the Cold War, drug-war, Saddam, etc. Monicagate was a cuckoo egg with a corresponding loyal opposition. William Colby broke out of the box, and like JFK and Nixon, was ruined by the same old opportunists, who chose the worst of Colby's offerings and tried to cut off what was diverging from the company line, which was a lot more interesting. Colby gave a course at Institute for Policy Studies, which got him demonized, but not killed. It was his input to nominally quite conservative and even anglophile-net, but thinking anglophile-net, publications, that scared the pants off the secret government and provoked direct action.
