Latest soft money:

Those national party committees that file monthly have just reported their
soft money receipts for the month of August 1999. This includes disclosures
from the RNC, NRSC and the DSCC. The amount of public disclosure has
recently been reduced because the DCCC has switched from their previous monthly
filing to only six-month filing. Their next filing will be due on January 31,
2000. The DCCC joins the DNC and NRCC who had already chosen to make only
minimal disclosures.

Highlights:
-Ohio again brings in a bundle to the RNC - this time totaling $230,000 on
8/19.
-Microsoft Works at contributing by giving $25,000 8/17 to NRSC.
-Thomas McInerney, (Welsh Carson Anderson & Stowe) New York, NY gives
$250,000 to the RNC. His total for 1999 is now $350,000 placing him #2 on the
99-00 Major Soft Donor List behind #1 Carl H. Lindner who is at $625,000.
-Lodwrick Cook, (Chairman Emeritus of ARCO) pumps $100,000 into RNC.
-Both national parties are moving big money in Virginia to win the control
of the state legislature that will handle the next redistricting. DSCC gives
$100,000 8/12 to Old Dominion Grass Roots Fund, Richmond, VA. They also
gave $15,000 more to state level candidates. RNC gives $150,000 8/27 to New
Majority Project, Richmond, VA.
