I disagree. Icke's words are the inevitable one step beyond the mass of myths
that have grown up about the Illuminati ever since it was trounced in Bavaria
over two centuries ago. To deny that Icke is responsible for his own rather
bizarre version of events is to repeat the same mistake which permeates all
his books, which is to attribute all of human history to the machinations of
this Illumanti/Brotherhood rather than to the individual will of human beings
acting according to their own perceived interests and beliefs. That is not to
deny that conspiracy has and will continue to be a feature of human activity.
Of course it is!
Icke has bamboozled himself by with his grand historical theory. It was
inevitable that he would seek to place some sort of physical identity on the
"Luciferic consciousness" he identified in his earlier works. What might have
just been a useful metaphor for a touching quasi-religious text on how humans
throughout their history have been at the mercy of the more evil and
power-hungry in their midst has become in instead a manifesto on how we are
not responsible for anything we do or have done in the past and have instead
been manipulated by some inhuman race.
