One more item before I close down this machine for the day. I just ran
outside to watch thousands of Snow Geese overhead; they have been gathering
in huge, noisy flocks on a nearby lake. They are supposed to be migrating
south (late at that, due to the long warm spell) but today they are flying
in every direction as if in total confusion. Long v's start off one way
then arc about and fly off at 90 degrees then turn again while other lines
criss-cross them and yet more lines circle through those and still more
lines move randomly through them... I have watched migrating birds for
many years and have never witnessed such a chaotic pattern, or lack of it.
Can any of you experts tell me if something is going on with Earth's
magnetic field?
