"What the hell is Bill Bradley doing with all that B of A stock?" asks a baffled David Yeske. According to Bradley's press office, the stock was inherited from his father, and he seems not to have touched it since. "If this person came to me, we'd be looking for ways to diversify," Yeske says. It's not that he's not trying. According to his FEC filings, Bradley has over $50,000 in a speculative venture-capital fund called Hummer-Winblad Technology III, run by an old NBA chum, John Hummer. Included in the fund are budding Internet companies The Knot and Biztravel.com, along with Net Perceptions (NETP), a dot-com play that went public in April. Still, that's no t good enough for Dee Lee. "He's banking on his friend Hummer to make it for him," says Lee. "He doesn't have the money to spare. He's top-heavy. This is really poorly diversified. Heaven forbid that everything in the venture fund bombs." Lee gives Bradley a four out of a possible 10 rating. "There's some basics here in life about diversification and not putting all your eggs in one basket," she says. Or, as David Feldman puts it, this is a portfolio "as skewed as Bradley is tall."
