Curt Weldon (R-PA) that missing Soviet Suitcase sized atomic devices may be stored in secret locations throughout the United States See Address to Congress October 27, 1999 Weldon, (a leading congressional expert on Russia and the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee), has focused attention on reports that 132 Soviet-made Tactical A-bombs with dimensions equal to those of a small suitcase may be found in secret caches located in upstate New York, Montana, California, Texas, and Minnesota. The Tactical weapons each carry a yield of 10 kilotons. The Threat was made known during an interview with General Alexander Lebed, Russian National Security Advisor in 1997. Corroberating information was given during a Voice of America broadcast in October, 1997. Voice Of America Transcript: INTRO: A RUSSIAN SCIENTIST HAS TOLD THE U-S CONGRESS THE SOVIET GOVERNMENT SECRETLY BUILT AND MAINTAINED AN ARSENAL OF TERRORIST NUCLEAR WEAPONS. YABLOKOV SAYS THEY WERE SIMPLY NOT INCLUDED ON OFFICIAL LISTS OF SOVIET NUCLEAR WEAPONS. HE ADDS, THE BOMBS MAY NOT HAVE SURVIVED TO THE PRESENT DAY BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO REPLACE THEIR NUCLEAR MATERIAL. BUT U-S OFFICIALS AND MEMBERS OF CONGRESS WORRY ABOUT THE SECURITY OF MANY RUSSIAN WEAPONS AND THE DANGER THAT NUCLEAR MATERIALS MAY FALL INTO THE HANDS OF MOBSTERS OR TERRORISTS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ With the very existence of this caliber of weapon in question, Strategic Intelligence has obtained information which leads this reporter to believe that the threat is real. The following series of photograph’s depict a U.S. Warhead named MADM (medium atomic demolition munition) which, when adapted yields up to 15 Kiloton’s. The Size of the warhead is less that 12" X 12" X 27". With the triggering device the unit weighs less than 163 pounds. The Warhead is the cylindrical object second from the left Remember, this is 1960's technology. The casing (far left) is not required. All that is required is the capped warhead (includes initiator) and a timer. This is the Carrying case for the MADM. Total weight of weapon, under 163 pounds This Technology is from early 1965. Today’s Technology offers a smaller size, higher yield warhead. Yield: 200 Kilotons. For comparison purposes the bomb dropped on Hiroshima called the 'Little boy' yelded 15-16 Kilotons. "A bright light filled the plane," wrote Lt. Col. Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola Gay, the B-29 that dropped the first atomic bomb. "We turned back to look at Hiroshima. The city was hidden by that awful cloud...boiling up, mushrooming." For a moment, no one spoke. Then everyone was talking. "Look at that! Look at that! Look at that!" exclaimed the co-pilot, Robert Lewis, pounding on Tibbets's shoulder. Lewis said he could taste atomic fission; it tasted like lead. Then he turned away to write in his journal. "My God," he asked himself, "what have we done?" (special report, "Hiroshima: August 6, 1945") note: Paul Tibbets was Colonel, not "Lt. Colonel," when he was the pilot of the Enola Gay. The Little Boy generated an enormous amount of energy in terms of air pressure and heat. In addition, it generated a significant amount of radiation (Gamma ray and neutrons) that subsequently caused devastating human injuries. The people who saw the Little Boy often say "We saw another sun in the sky when it exploded." The heat and the light generated by the Little Boy were far stronger than bombs which they had seen before. When the heat wave reached ground level it burnt all before it including people. The strong wind generated by the bomb destroyed most of the houses and buildings within a 1.5 miles radius. When the wind reached the mountains, it was reflected and again hit the people in the city center. The wind generated by Little Boy caused the most serious damage to the city and people. The radiation generated by the bomb caused long-term problems to those affected. Many people died within the first few months and many more in subsequent years because of radiation exposure. Some people had genetic problems which sometimes resulted in having malformed babies or being unable to have children. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In summation, with today’s technology it is reasonable to believe that the missing atomic weapons could reasonably exist, and possibly in a higher yield than originally reported. These weapons woulb be lighter, smaller and offer a higher destructive yield (200 Kilotons). One former KGB Officer, Vasili Mitrokhin, the highest ranking spy ever to defect from Russia, has testified that special Soviet forces were assigned to detonate the A-bombs, which are pre-positioned throughout the United States, in the event of war. The real threat here is the fact that many top level KGB officials are entrepeneurs now (some leading figures in the russian mob). Information (from German Intelligence) implies that at least one of these officers had the locations of these weapons.
