you ARE one, the smart, polite thing to do before you use such a term is
make sure you know how whoever you're talking to feels about what you call
them and their people. Not doing so risks alienating sensitive potential
friends allies. It makes you look like a bigot and a snob. In person can
get you smacked upside the head, or worse.
