Doctors discovered a partial blockage in one of the arteries in Pease's heart in September 1998. Pease said in his announcement that the incident had led him to focus on how he wanted to spend the rest of his life, and that he had decided to devote his time to community service as a volunteer. Pease is a past national chairman of the Order of the Arrow Committee of the Boy Scouts and past president of Pi Kappa Alpha national social fraternity and has been active in his local church and local charities. His alma mater, Indiana State University, had been trying to recruit him to be its president but he declined the offer. Pease's district, Indiana's Seventh, extends westward from the western city limits of Indianapolis to the Illinois border. It is reliably Republican: George Bush carried it with 64.4% in 1988 and 46.4% (to Clinton's 31.6%) in 1992; Bob Dole amassed 52% of its vote in 1996. ~Tiresias Congressional Hearings: http://www.capitolwatch.com/hearings.html Do you have a contribution to make to a congressional hearing?
