(AP) -- A moderate earthquake 50 miles at sea rattled several small communities along the northern coast of California today, but no damage or injuries were reported. The U.S. Geological Survey put the magnitude at 5.8 and the epicenter off Punta Gorda, about 200 miles north of San Francisco and 55 miles south and west of Ferndale. The quake hit at 7:20 a.m. PST. Ferndale Police Chief Gary Holder said the temblor lasted about 30 seconds or so and was a rolling shaking, rather than a sharp jolt. "I went out afterwards to check the town and I couldn't even find a broken window," he said. Problems? Suggestions?
