'Radical' Gary Coleman Runs for Senate
Politicians are known for breaking the law and having sleazy
affairs. Now that former child star Gary Coleman is running
for
the Senate, he could continue his hobby of run-ins with the
law,
but at least the self-declared virgin probably won�t be
having
any flings with interns.
The long-ago star of the sitcom Diff�rent Strokes plans to
unseat liberal Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California,
ABCNEWS.com
reported. Coleman decided not to run in New York because he
doesn't want to be compared to carpetbagger Hillary Clinton,
"representing a state I don't know anything about." He has
not
chosen his party yet. "I'm such a radical," he told Fox
News, "I
might have to run independent."
The half-pint former celebrity says he knows it will be hard
to
live down his troubled reputation. In the last few years the
spotlight has shown on him only for confessing, "I'm still a
virgin," and for his occasional brushes with the law,
including
accusations he punched a woman seeking his autograph.
But forget the traditional cleaning-up act most would-be
politicians undergo before seeking office. Coleman told ABC�s
20/20 a few months ago, "I don't do wholesome anymore,"
referring to his work as a video game columnist for UGO
network,
known for risque humor.
