Much of the information that is available today exists entirely because individual citizens and groups of citizens have resisted the secrecy and lies and pressed for full disclosure. That effort is ongoing. If you want to join in the demand for release of all public records relating to the murders of Don Henry and Kevin Ives and illicit activities at Mena, here are some things to do: 1. Write to your members of Congress. Briefly explain that agencies of the Justice Department are not adhering to requirements of the federal Freedom of Information and Privacy Act. Express your opinion that if ordinary citizens are held to the requirements of federal laws, the Justice Department should be too. Ask your member of Congress to contact the FBI in support of my appeals and to notify you of the agency’s response. 2. Contact the editors of your local newspaper. Mention the book and this website and tell them that, in light of the war on drugs, you’d like to know more about Barry Seal, especially about his connections to the CIA and the secrecy that surrounds his file. 3. Discuss the book and related issues at book clubs and in civic groups. It is not a radical position to want release of public records, especially records that have been withheld for years, in violation of federal law. Help promote awareness of the federal Freedom of Information and Privacy Act, and its importance to our democracy. 4. Continue to visit this site and check out related links. 5. Keep the faith.
