Actually it's a control thing. No woman who doesn't want an abortion will
ever be forced to have one, at least not by the State. I remember laughing
when Casey said he thought women should be required to tell their husband. I
laughed because the only two women I have ever known who had abortions did so
because their husbands required it. One was a Catholic. It was before
abortion was legal, but he told her she would either have an abortion or a
divorce. The other woman was a Moslem, and her husband insisted she have
abortions after they had a certain number of children. Notice he made no
attempt to practice birth control. Not that birth control is a relative
issue, because those who think no woman should ever be allowed an abortion
also think no one should practice birth control. You end up with the old
Romanian method. Orphanages full of miserable, mistreated chidren--but no
nasty abortions. Yes they tend to die fairly quickly if they are lucky, but
this way they get to suffer first. Didn't Christ say, "Suffer the little
children to come on to me? He probably just didn't phrase it right. What he
meant was, "Be sure the little children suffer before they come on to me."
