More Judges Recuse Themselves From Clinton Case
(CNSNews.com) - Two more Arkansas judges said Monday they would
not hear a lawsuit seeking President Bill Clinton's disbarment,
citing potential conflicts of interest. The move increases the
chance the case will be heard by a recent appointee of Republican
Gov. Mike Huckabee, a harsh critic of the conduct. The move
also brings to three the number of judges appointed by Clinton
when he was Arkansas governor that have recused themselves from
the case.
Two judges remain to hear the case - a recently elected Democrat,
Chris Piazza, and Leon Johnson, who was appointed by Huckabee on
June 2 to fill a vacancy through December. The lawsuit alleges
that deceptive answers Clinton gave under oath in the Paula Jones
sexual harassment case about his relationship with Monica
Lewinsky made him unfit to be a lawyer. The president's lawyer,
David Kendall, has said Clinton will fight the case vigorously.
