"After World War II, Weisenthal himself worked for U.S. intelligence.
'One day I arrested a Ukranian Nazi and brought him in. The next week I saw
him out on the streets. What could I do? Weisenthal shrugged. Top understand
the enormity of what Weisenthal had admitted, it should be known that his
own mother had been killed by Ukranian Nazis, yet he did nothing to pursue
this man further. In over thirty years he had never criticized American
intelligence for hiring Nazis. During the same thirty years, Soviet
propaganda had frequently denounced Weisenthal as an agent of Western
intelligence, accusing him of hunting only those Nazis who were not on
NATO's payroll . He did have a blind spot for members of VorKommando Moskay
who worked for Allen Dulles? Was it simple igorance on Weisenthal's part,,
or did he acrively assist in the cover-up? CBS had already interviewed some
of the White Russian Nazis who had admitted contact with Western
intelligence, including the FBI. Weisenthal asked CBS not to do the show,
saying that it would do great harm. [Ira] Rosen was bewildered but adamant.
CBS's own sources had confirmed the FBI-Nazi connection." (p. 507-8)
