Giuliani Snubs Clinton Invite to Party with 'Murderers'
New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is no big fan of the United Nations. So
when President Clinton invited him to attend a reception for the U.N.
Millennium Summit scheduled for Thursday night at the Metropolitan Museum of
Art, the mayor had some choice words.
"I don't want to party with murderers," Giuliani said, adding, "You've got
some people there who have murdered a lot of people. ... I don't want to
spend the whole night deciding who I can talk to and who I can't."
The guest list includes Fidel Castro, who Giuliani denounced last week as a
"murderous dictator." Another member of the Clinton-U.N. rogues' gallery will
be Yasser Arafat, whom the mayor ejected from another affair at Lincoln
Center in 1995.
Co-hosting the event will be Giuliani's one-time political nemesis, Hillary
Clinton - who hugged and kissed Mrs. Arafat earlier this year after she
claimed Israeli soldiers had gassed Palestinian children.
