When was she an official? What was her job title?
Here's what the NYRB says about her:
"ELAINE SCARRY is the author of On Beauty and Being Just and recently
received the Truman Capote Prize for Dreaming by the Book. She teaches at
Harvard, where she is completing a study of war and the social contract."
Curious that they don't mention that she was a former FAA official.
