I know it is tempting to think that all defense spending should be either on
high tech starwars junk or bullets, but logistics is the key to our defense.
That takes in bullets, but also the support of the personnel who will be
carrying the rifles without which bullets are a waste of time. When you
think about prostate cancer research and the military, remember that the
wonderful "agent orange" has been discovered to be a causitive factor, so
much so that those who served in Vietnam and their dependents are eligible
for help and financial assistance throught the Veterans' Administration.
Remember that soldiers have to eat and sleep, and also that if we could
reduce the number of generals to that with which we won World War II, we
could save a bale of money which could then be funneled into "readiness."
