-Caveat Lector- Please copy and distribute to other interested individuals and groups ********** Ritalin Fraud and Class-Action Lawsuit Interesting new information on the class-action lawsuit being brought against the drug-companies making and promoting Ritalin: http://www.ritalinfraud.com/ If you are a physician prescribing this drug, or someone who is taking the drug, or are giving it to your kids, or know someone who falls into these categories, you should take a look at this information. The suit, by Waters & Kraus (who launched prior successful suits against the asbestos and tobacco industry), alleges that Ciba-Geigy (a Swiss pharmaceutical company which merged with Sandoz to form drug giant Novartis, with $5 billion yearly profits) colluded with the American Psychiatric Association to promote the illness ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperacivity Disorder) in order to then sell their drug, Ritalin. The drug company also basically created the so-called "citizen's organization" CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder) by providing over $700,000 in funding over a 3-year period. CHADD is also a defendant in the lawsuit. As mentioned before, children in Europe don't suffer from this fabricated illness, nor are prescribed Ritalin except in numbers so low as to be negligible.
