-Caveat Lector- Prudy, this is so true and cannot be said often enough. I have long awaited the church to make some sort of remediation on this situation but suspect that will never happen while humanity starves itself into a state of total degeneration trying to adhere to these teachings. And the idea that women "like" abortions is ludicrous and misogynistic in the extreme. I think most women get abortions out of desperation and financial hardship such as being abandoned by the man who fathered the child, if you can call it that. Where are the men in all these abortions? I suspect they are often irresponsible and quickly move on to create yet more unsustained pregnancies. If things were ideal, I think abortions would be rare indeed. Any procedure carries with it a certain amount of risk, all of which is placed on the woman. the term "safe" abortion is relative only. It is a risk not many men I know would be willing to take yet as you pointed out, they are the ones who cannot be bothered with birth control in many cases. That is why I support the VAWA as this country has a long way to go in this area. On this note, I recently saw the movie Cider House Rules and think it was not as good as the book which I highly recommend. It made me much more understanding of the abortion issue. I was adamantly opposed until I read this book and it really revealed to me how women so often have we no choice. The movie is well made and worth seeing if anyone is interested and does not have time to read the book. Women must speak out on these issues as men sometimes fail to understand the ramifications of unwanted pregnancies not having to be physically involved.
