Al Gore was declared the winner very early in the evening. Then the major networks admitted they had called it too early and declared George W. Bush the winner. All of us sat in front of our televisions waiting for Gore to give his concession speech. We finally were told that Gore had called Bush and said that he refused to concede. The Florida Attorney General is having the Florida ballots recounted. Who knows when we will know for sure who won this election! Evidently the Electoral College does not meet for several weeks and there is speculation the election results will not be known until then.
