-Caveat Lector- With Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff Saturday March 17, 2001; 10:17 a.m. EST Roger Clinton Met With $200G Pardon Seeker: Eyewitness Investigators have turned up an eyewitness who places Roger Clinton in the same room with Garland Lincecum, the man whose family says they paid $235,000 to a company controlled by the former first brother in exchange for a presidential pardon. "He can put him in that room not only because he was there -- he heard it, he saw it -- but also because he purchased the airline tickets that brought Roger Clinton to that room," reported WABC radio's John Batchelor early Saturday morning. Batchelor, along with WABC co-host Paul Alexander, first detailed the pardons-for-cash scheme on Feb. 27, revealing on the station's Sean Hannity Show that Garland's brother Guy and mother Alberta paid at $235,000 to a three man partnership that went by the name CLM. Those initials, the Lincecums were told, stood for Clinton, Locke and Morton. Though Roger has denied any connection with the company, CLM executive Dickey Morton said Wednesday that he was indeed a partner. "He was in on all the meetings. It's all documented," Morton told the New York Daily News. The talk radio duo said the meeting between Clinton and Lincecum took place in Texas in 1998, the same year the pardon seeker began serving a seven year jail sentence on federal fraud charges for his role in an $8 million investment scam. They would not name the witness who bankrolled Roger's Pardongate travel expenses, but Alexander said two first class airline tickets were purchased for Roger "and apparently a companion as well." Batchelor decribed the Texas meeting between Clinton and Lincecum as "the set-up for the transfer of cash from (Lincecum's) family to CLM in exchange for the promise of a pardon or commutation sometime in the last two years of the Clinton administration." At the Texas meeting, an initial downpayment of $25,000 was allegedly paid. Morton has acknowledged that the Lincecums made payments to CLM, but says the money instead bought advice on a plan to use a Christian foundation sell tax-exempt bonds in Las Vegas. Guy Lincecum's lawyer Ed Hayes called that alibi ridiculous, telling WABC Thursday night that Alberta Lincecum had wiped out her pension fund just to scrape together enough cash to buy freedom for her son. Hayes got involved in the case through his ties to Batchelor and Alexander. Not only is he their personal attorney, but his guest appearance on their Feb. 23 broadcast first attracted the attention of Guy Lincecum's friend Robert Bronson, who called the lawyer the next day. Several major news organizations are now in hot pursuit of the story, including NBC News, which Batchelor said is "very close to putting money from Dickie Morton into Roger Clinton's hands." The FBI is said to have cut off media access to the Lincecum family and other principle witnesses involved in their Roger Clinton Pardongate probe. Clinton himself has declined to respond to questions from the House Government Reform and Oversight committee, which has asked him to detail his role in trying to obtaining presidential pardons. http://disc.server.com/discussion.cgi?id=149495&article=147 www.ctrl.org DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER ========== CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list.
