On the way to the law library...

"It would be a damn shame if legal woes end up silencing Narco News. But I
suspect that silencing Giordano himself would be an utter impossibility."

      - Dan Kennedy, The Boston Phoenix, April 12, 2001

Dear Colleagues,

Those of you who have seen the front page of Narco News in recent hours know
that we've gone to the Law Library for the coming days. On the way out the
door, I wish to share with you the following reflection.

Dan Kennedy has taken the Drug War on Trial case to a high and comprehensive
level in his Boston Phoenix tour de force of today:

http://www.bostonphoenix.com/boston/news_features/dont_quote_me/multi-page/documents/01282843.htm

TITLE: The Internet on trial

SUBHED: The war on drugs, a powerful Mexican banker, and a libel suit add up
to a big threat to independent online journalism

Kennedy, who was my editor for a year, and thus knows the subject as few do,
has also published a very long and comprehensive interview as we approach
the April 18th first anniversary of Narco News:

See you in New York next Wednesday,

Al Giordano
