-Caveat Lector- It seems that at least one satellite may have been damaged by recent solar activity on the sun. I subscribe to Echostar's Dish Network and we lost several channels on the satellite located at 119º. Each satellite has 32 transponders and Dish has licenses to operate 21 of those 32 transponders. The other 11 licenses belong to Dish's competitor, DirecTV. The status of their satellite is unknown. Dish has licenses for transponders 1 through 21. These transponders are no longer operating: 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21 Since the content is MPEG compressed, each transponder can carry approximately 8 to 12 channels, depending on how much motion is in the content.
