-Caveat Lector- To equate slaves and fetuses is disingenuous. Slaves were (are) persons. Fetuses are not. The belief the a fetus is a person is a religious belief. It is one not held by the majority of people. But even if it were held by the majority of people, so what? What the anti-abortionists are really talking about is going back to an era where the armed might of the state is used to enforce the religious beliefs of some on the rest of us. They want to put people in jail for not practicing their religion. This is not acceptable.
