Taiwan to test fire Patriot missile TAIPEI - Taiwan will test fire US-made Patriot anti-missiles next week, in the first such exercise conducted outside the US. The drill would take place in the southern base of Chiupeng between June 20 and 22, the United Evening News said yesterday. Advertisement Local military authorities consider the test-fire an important breakthrough in Taiwan-US military exchanges, the paper said. Taiwan Defence Minister Wu Shi-wen announced last month that Patriot anti-missile weaponry would be test-fired here as 'part of the routine military training programmes.' The US agreed in April to sell advanced weapons to Taiwan amid rising military threats from China.
