-Caveat Lector- Israeli breaches of the cease-fire Palestine Media Center (PMC) 18 June 2001 Despite its announced acceptance of the Tenet cease-fire work plan, Israel has yet to comply with its specified terms. Below are examples of the Israel's breaches from late 17 June until today 18 June. Gaza Strip: 1.. Israeli occupation snipers fatally shot Murad Abu Shawish (12 years old) in the heart. The snipers fired at the children from the Israeli settlement of “Jani Tal” in Rafah. Palestinian medical sources reported that Israeli sniper fire also critically injured Adel Qinnin (16 years old) in the chest, Ramzi Qinnin (16 years old) in the abdomen, Jihad Abu Musa (15 years old) in the chest, and Jaser Al-Salmi (18 years old) in the chest. 2.. Israeli occupation forces opened fire, unprovoked, towards Ahmed Said’s (39 years old) car in Al-Sheikh Radwan, near the Israeli settlement of “Netzarim”. Said was moderately injured in the shoulder. Qalqilya District: An Israeli settler ran over 81 year-old Ahmed Ali with his car, instantly killing him. Ramallah District: 1.. Israeli settlers burned tens of dunams of planted fields belonging to the residents of Alluban AL-Gharbi. This is the second such attack in a week. 2.. Israeli occupation soldiers set up sand barriers on the road connecting Betin and Ein Yabrood in Ramallah. 3.. Israeli occupation authorities confiscated tens of dunams of land belonging to Betunia. The illegally confiscated land is adjacent to the Israeli occupation military's camp “Ofra”. Salfit District: Israeli settlers razed fields belonging to the residents of AL-Zawieh. Residents reported that the Israeli settlers uprooted tens of olive trees in the area in addition to the razing. This is the second settler attack in a row against the village. Nablus District: 1.. Israeli occupation forces continued to raze the famous Mount Jarzim in Nablus. For the past eight months, Israeli occupation forces have been razing the mountain, famous for its evergreens and tourism appeal, and setting up cement blocs and other fortifications to their military outpost atop. 2.. Israeli occupation forces entered Aqraba, conducted violent house searches, and chased after the youths. Hebron District: 1.. Israeli occupation forces further tightened the restrictions they impose against the Palestinian residents in the Old City in Hebron. 2.. Despite an Israeli High Court ban, Israeli settlers in “Ramat Shai” continued to expand their illegal settlement, using land that is known to contain historical artifacts. 3.. Israeli settlers brutally beat Mohamed (11 years old), Fida’ (8 years old), and Nihad Abu Eisheh (13 years old), who live in the Old City in Hebron. 4.. Israeli Military Court chose to only reprimand an Israeli soldier, convicted of shooting Jad Allah AL-Ja’bari (55 years old) in Hebron six months ago. Al-Ja’bari’s leg was amputated as a result of his injury. A journalist working nearby filmed the incident.
