-Caveat Lector-

Thanks for an excellent post Kris, although it will take some time to work
thru the links. I, too, am very leery about Bush, particularly after reading
Inside the League. People like J2 won't let facts get in the way of cliches
however when it comes to population control.

Found the following in a story on the Free Tibet campaign that was written up
in a recent issue of the magazine Subject, a glossy, trendy magazine out of
England.

"What about the Chinese population control policy--is that active in Tibet as
well?
AY: Yes, they do enforce the one child rule on Tibetans, much more forcibly
than they do on the Chinese. But the thing is that the Tibetans are not over
populating their land. The land is very expansive so having a one-child
limitation on the Tibetans is actually contributing to the genocidal aspects
of what's happening there. There's a truck that's been going around in Tibet
for years, performing forced abortions and forced sterilizations on women
there on a regular basis. They are basically sterilizing whole towns and
villages. The one child policy is actually very destructive, whereas in
China thre may be some logic in it with overpopulation. Basically it's the
same rule but it's being extended in a very destructive way in Tibet.

LR: I heard a story that in Tibet there was someone who did interviews with
women there. There's one story I remember particularly. A medical truck
pulled into this village and told all the women in this town that they had to
report to this truck. One woman was about eight months along in her
pregnancy. They gave something to induce labour and when the baby was born
they gave it an inection in the head and killed it right in front of the
mother. That's very typical of the stories you hear."

Ok in China--not OK in Tibet. OK in the US--not OK in Germany. How strange
that people think they can control the consequences of an idea.
