You are so right. Since the state of Israeli did not yet exist
before 1948, obviously the Zionists who were "buying up" Arab
land prior to 1948 were merely looking for vacation homes as a
respite from the European winter.
Similiar to the British "farmers" who "bought up" farmland
in South Africa....just before the Boer War.
