-Caveat Lector- Is it just ME or would one normally expect they would KNOW what this was and not need an analysis? ~Amelia~ Container of chemical agent samples shipped ANNISTON, August 15 -- The U.S. Army said it shipped two small containers loaded with chemical agents out of the Anniston Army Depot Wednesday morning. Cathy Coleman, spokeswoman for the Army's Soldier and Biological Chemical Command, said the chemical agents were taken a laboratory in Maryland for analysis. Coleman said a military escort unit from Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland moved 18 vials of the nerve agent VX and 12 vials of mustard gas, including both HD and HT types. A total of 240 milliliters of the chemicals were transported, by comparison, the average soft drink holds 350 milliliters. No munitions or explosives were involved. The Army said this is the third shipment of chemical agents to be transported to the lab. The Analysis is conducted to help Army officials refine their procedures for the destruction and management of chemical weapons stored at the Anniston facility.
