Revealing a list the government had compiled of 31,000 adherents of "Islamic extremism" living within German borders, Schily stated that the 1964 law that protects religions from being banned by the government should be repealed, and the government should immediately move to close down Islamic religious centers and mosques across the country. Schily said that the Islamic community's hostility towards Israel made its existence unacceptable to the German government, and cited in particular the fact that many Muslims were refusing to shop at Jewish stores as an act fo solidarity with the Palestinians. Schily said that boycotting businesses that work with Israel was "criminal" and "anti-Semitic", and that any criticism of the Jewish state was unacceptable in German society. Schily's draft law repeals all religious freedom in Germany, and gives the government the right to establish a state religion and ban religious groups that the government does not approve of. In America, such government activity is prohibited by the First Amendment to the American Constitution, which prohibits "the establishment of a religion" and guarantees freedom of speech. After its defeat in World War II, Germany had all its constitutional liberties stripped away by the Allied occupation force, and then had an alien Social Democratic Constitution forced on it by outside powers. The Constitution doesn't allow Germans the right to free speech, to practice religion as the see fit, or the right keep and carry weapons.
