Indeed...one will find that in most neighborhoods made up of immigrants
from Latin American countries, that attendance at the local Roman
Catholic church is marginal to minimal. Born-Again Protestant faiths
have made significant inroads into hispanic communities, plus there is a
strong adherence to 'native' religions such as Santeria, Condoble, and
Voudoun...
Even those hispanics who consider themselves good Christians (whether
Catholic or Protestant) frequent the local bodega, to make sure that they
'cover all the bases'...indeed, one can find more items devoted to
Catholicism in a bodega than in most ostensibly Christian book stores...
