An even bigger question is why the fighters were not scrambled from bases
which were closest to where the hijacked planes were at the time the
fighters were scrambled; specifically regarding the 2 planes that went
into the WTC, the fighters were scrambled out of MA -- yet at the time
those fighters were taking off from MA, the 2 hijacked planes were almost
directly over the Newburgh NY fighter base...why wasn't Newburgh
scrambled? Fighters from that base could have reached the 2 hijacked
planes within a few minutes -- they could have definitely taken out the
2nd hijacked plane, even if they were too late for the 1st plane...
