On the surface, this looks like a blow to corporate America, but one recalls that the crash of 1929 was in large part engineered by financial and industrial interests who were able to step in at the bottom and buy everything up very cheaply. Anybody got a favourite link on that topic, BTW? If all of this is part of a longterm plan which includes occupying Afghanistan and some of its neighbours to secure Middle eastern oil, one can imagine these recent crashes to appear to some a small price to pay to consolidate hegemeny, and that in the long run corporate stocks will be worth even more, especially if bought at bargain basement prices...
