Osama’s cave has mosque, tanks Rajeev Sharma Tribune News Service New Delhi, November 15 The top leadership of Osama bin Laden’s terrorist network Al-Qaida and Afghanistan’s deposed militia Taliban is still safe and scattered to a number of unknown locations in Afghanistan and Pakistan, well-placed sources here today quoted latest reports as saying. There are conflicting reports about the location of Bin Laden and he could be either in Pakhtia province in Afghanistan or might have sneaked into a Pashtoon-dominated area of Pakistan in the past 48 hours. Bin Laden’s Pakhtia hideout has a secret network of caves and tunnels many of which have an intricate inter-connection. Some tunnels are so massive that tanks and armoured personnel carriers are tucked inside them by the Bin Laden-Mulla Omar gang. One tunnel in Pakhtia is so huge that it has a mosque in it where the terrorists have stored large quantities of ration which could last them for months and months. Sources said the Northern Alliance still had an uphill task ahead of them as the Taliban-Al Qaida combine had a large number of “tactical reserves” in southern Afghanistan, particularly in and around Jalalabad and Pakhtia. |
