------- Forwarded message follows ------- Forza Nuova -- "New Force" Anarchy And The Third Position In Italy 11/19/2001 12:38:20 PM Idgr.de (Translated by LSN) Genova, Italy -- http://www.idgr.de (translated by LSN) Forza Nuova -- "New Force" Seat: Rome. Publication organ: Foglia di Lotta. Presidency: Roberto Fiore. Number of members: approx. 25000 This neo-Fascist organization was created in 1997 by Roberto Fiore and Massimo Morsello while in exile in Great Britain. The two right-wing extremists had fled there, when the State’s Attorney’s Office [of Italy] determined they could restrict the two by claiming they were responsible for a bomb attack in Bologna in 1980 that killed 85 and seriously injured more than 200. Also involved in the blast were members of right-wing terrorist group Nucleei Armati Rivoluzionari (NAR) ("Armed Revolutionary Cells"), which Fiore and Morsello were members of at the time. In 1985 both were convicted in absentia of membership in a criminal union, receiving 9 or 10 years. Fiore restructured his group under the protection of the British government and established various serious bank accounts in London holding millions of dollars for his corporate empire of travel agencies, language schools and pensions. His possible connections to the Mafia were speculated on in the press several times. Fiore found temporary refuge with the British right-wing extremist and Holocaust Denier Anthony Hancock . Other members of the NAR , which had likewise fled to Great Britain, attached themselves to the National Front (NF) . The Italian right-wing terrorists won appreciable influence in the NF and tore the Party after gaining control of many of its important positions. In August 1999 Fiores’ and Morsellos’ business activities were examined by a committee of the British House of Commons. Particularly the committee looked the into activities of the Legion of the Archangel St. Michael, which Fiore set up as charitable society in 1995 and which was accused of connections with activities of right-wing terror groups. The evidence, however, was not sufficient for the commission of inquiry to deny non-profit status to the association. The committee found connection between the charity and the International Third Position (ITP ), however no evidence of illegal activities by either organization were found. [ 2 ] The publishing organ of the ITP Final Conflict reports regularly on the activities of the FN in Italy. In the e-zine FC 820 on January 8, 1998 it is reported that the right-extremist party finances holidays stays for children from poor worker families. The name of the program is " Colonia Evita ". The motive might however be less charity or social commitment, than the possibility of recruiting young humans. The program of Forza Nuova centers on the demand for "national identity" founded militant anticommunism and anti-Americanism, protection from immigrants, a repudiation of the Maastricht Treaty and European Union. Fellow citizens of foreign nationality are viewed as criminals, particularly Muslims and people from Islamic culture. Likewise the group engages in unconcealed Anti- Semitism. The Forza Nuova is also against homosexuals and has written anti- abortion slogans on their banners at demonstrations. The party program can be summed as: "by la ricostruzione nazionale" -- "for a national renewal". The FN maintains contact with the radical Irish anti-abortion organization Youth Defence, whose boss Justin has repeatedly held meetings with the FN. [ 3 ] A regular guest at the meetings of the Forza Nuova is the NPD chairmen Udo Voigt . Like Fiore, Voigt practices a double strategy: On the one hand he wins Nazi Skinheads for the movement, while on the other hand he keeps himself open to ultra-right to conservative-catholic sets. This strategy is successful. Within the Catholic networks the neo-Fasicsts paint themselves as church men, agitating against abortion, homosexuals and "Islamic invasion". The charismatic speaker Fiore understands how to draw the public into his spell. In August 2000 he was allowed to talk at an official catholic meeting about abortion. Forza Nuova maintains contacts to many other neo-Fascist organizations, such as a Spanish group which claims to be the heirs of the Falange. Fiore was scheduled to speak at the "day of national resistance” organized by the NPD on May 27, 2000 in Passau as an honored guest. Horst Mahler spoke in June 2000 to a meeting of the FN on his time as a RAF terrorist. [ 4 ] Supporters of the Forza Nuova are found among [soccer] hooligans in Udine and Hell's Angels in Padua. The right-wing fans of the soccer association Lazio Rome in the notorious south curve can be recognized as followers of the Forza Nuova by their typical black clothes. One of the largest groups of supporters from the right-wing skinhead scene, a subdivision of the blackred brigades, calls itself the Warriors. The connections in the scene reach up to Blood & Honour. In April 1999 Fiore was convicted in absentia in a Roman court of financially supporting of the Hammerskins – an organization forbidden in Italy. But above all, internationally, they are connected to the Third Position, "Terza Positione", or "Third Way ". A particularly close and persisting co-operation has existed for many years with the ITP . According to press reports from Spain, Fiore organized in 1999 for the Austrian FPOe to receive the presidency of the right-wing parties in the European parliament. He has financed the activities of the right-wing party Movimento Sociale Fiamma Tricolore (MS-FT). The number of the supporters of the Forza Nuova in Italy is estimated at 20,000 persons, with the militant and ready for violence portion approximately 1000. [ 5 ] Forza Nuova has been in the sight of the authorities for a long time. In June 1999 the Italian Ministry for Protection of the Constitution, transmitted an extensive report to the Minister of the Interior discussing the close co- operation of the Forza Nuova with the catholic-integralistic movement Militia Christis, as stated by the 36-year old Fabrizio Lastei. The copy of a secret document was attached to the report, in which the details of the co-operation of the right-extremist organizations were described. According to it common planning of protests and propaganda against the abortion, against the USA and against "the American way of life", which is understood as the "fight against the Zionists". Further propaganda made attacks against "entrepreneurs of Jewish faith" and attempted to influence public opinion to initiate a "boycott against the Hebrew dealers" -- Coca Cola and McDonalds explicitly. The Minister of the Interior has called for global safety precautions against this group, particularly because it is a danger to Jewish organizations. Alone in Rome there are about 60 activists of the Militia Christi . [ 6 ] On December 22, 2000, there was a bomb attack on the Roman editorship of the left daily paper Il Manifesto . The bomber, Andrea Insabato, was seriously hurt in the assassination attempt. Membership of Insabatos in the Forza Nuova was denied directly, however both FN bosses granted they had been in friendly contact with him for years, stating he was an "idealist" and a "good catholic". The Forza Nuova dissociated itself publicly from the assassination attempt. In a press conference on December 27 a journalist was attacked by the FN boss from Rome, Francesco Bianchi, after asking questions about incident, and ws hospitalized. [ 7 ] The bombing of the newspaper Il Manifesto amazingly resembled two preceding blasts from November 1999, with many parallels in the execution. The first bomb attack was on November 23, 1999 and was directed against the museum of the resistance in the via Tasso. On November 27 an incendiary device was thrown into the cinema Nuova Olimpia, which had a controversial film being viewed by an Israeli Ambassador. Both bomb attacks were attributed to the "anti-Zionist Movement", the Movimento Anti-Sionista . The Italian police executed house searches against the boss of the Militia Christi , Fabrizio Lastei, and a number of supporters. The same handbills and documents were found as had already been foundthe dwelling of Insabato. [ 8 ] After Fiores returned to Italy the security forces registered an increase of acts of terrorism, which were executed in the manner of the NAR. Again documents were received which placed suspicion on left or anarchist sects, but the investigation concentrated nevertheless on right-wing extremists, above all the FN and their surrounding membership. So also Guiliano Castellino wase rapidly seized, after he was found responsible for the assassination attempt on the cinema Nuova Olimpia. It ranks the hooligan among fans of Lazio Rome and had numerous connections to the Forza Nuova. [ 9 ] Only two weeks before the bombing of the editorial offices of the Il Manifesto Ricardo Baggio, the FN boss of Padua and three members of its party were arrested for production of explosive material, bombs and the possession of weapons. The material found would have been sufficient to heave the whole block of flats into air. [ 10 ] The anti-terror experts of the Ministry of the Interior note that the "New Force" has a strong organization, which is the basis for criminal subversive operations. Scotland Yard transferred to the Italian Ermittlern a dossier in December 2000, from which it follows that the assassin Andrea Insabato had an account giving the Forza Nuova power of attorney still existing in London. Because of the spreading of racist and anti-Semitic ideas the prohibition of such literature is being threatened by the Interior Ministry.[11 ] as the documents reveal that Insabato received regular payments of 250 British Pounds per week and other financial allowances from Fiores’ British businesses.[12 ] In February a meeting the FN were to host in Triest for European right-wing parties was banned by the police head of the north Italian port for "safety reasons". The Forza Nuova had announced beforehand the participation of friendly foreign movements, including the NPD. " We want to organize a demonstration of Central European peoples against European Union, globalization and the euro", stressed the boss of the Forza Nuova for the region Friaul Julisch Venetien, Fabio Bellani. At the demonstration the NPD party chief Udo Voigt and NPD lawyer Horst Mahler attended [13] . The FN branch in Lombardy in March 2001 had an Internet radio feed on its website. The chairman of the Lombardy branch is Duilio Canu. Canu has been a boss of the forbidden Italian Hammerskins for many years. In that position, it was on the pay roll of Fiores’ company "Meeting Point".[14 ] F.M. Ilariucci has responsibility for the Internet activities of the FN Lombardy. The website offers MP3-files for download as well as streamed play. Because of the death of the FN joint founder Massimo Morsello there is also mourning music and music for Heroes.[15 ] In the mayoral elections in Rome, which are to take place on May 13 2001, Guido Mussolini is the candidate of the Forza Nuova. He is a grandchild of the Italian dictator. While he has no chance to win the election, Guido Mussolini says that "Mussolinis ideas were 99 per cent good and one per cent doubtful". [16 ] On July 25 2001, a secret police dossier reveals tht members of the Forza nuova as well as former members of the forbidden Fronte nazionale planned to mix with the protest meetings against G8 in the Genova as part of the anarchist "black block", acting as troublemakers within the completely peaceful demonstrators and initiating acts of violence.[17] Officials of the Forza nuova in the context of the protest meetings on July 21 2001 transferred troublemakers from England to Italy, according to the report of a 26-year old Englishman from Birmingham called, " Doggy ", because he always wears a t-Shirt which shows a rabid dog. After extensive consumption of alcohol loosened his tongue for British press reporters, he told the press how his " Italian friends" had brought his crew of neo-Nazi “Black Dogs” over to Genova to destroy the meetings.[19 ] Collaboration with the police of several hooligan [informers] is in the international section of the report, along with numerous notes of direct infiltration of the black block by policemen who surrounded an Italian McDonalds, and encouraged the fear of the fall of the Italian culture by demanding “eat Italian!”.[18] In October 2001 Italian right-wing extremists plan an international meeting in Triest again. According the statements of Fabio Bellani, in December, several European groups, including representatives of the German NPD and the French Unité Radicale, are to participate, as well of the Austrian right-extremist group Graz. The topic of the meeting is to be protest against globalization as well as the war in Afghanistan.[20 ] Libertarian Socialist News Post Office Box 12244 Silver Spring, MD 20908 http://www.overthrow.com (check out our messageboards -- discuss this story on-line!)
