Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the senior Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, wrote to Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson, who is handling the Justice Department probe into the collapse of Enron. ``As a former partner at King and Spalding, a law firm that has represented Enron, you may have a conflict of interest that would require you to recuse yourself from the investigation,'' Conyers wrote. ``I am writing to inquire whether you have recused yourself from the Enron investigation or whether your are at least considering such a withdrawal,'' Conyers said. The letter did not detail Thompson's work with King and Spalding, and a Conyers spokeswoman said she did not have any details of the Atlanta-based firm. A Justice Department spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
