A Church was designed for gatherings of the people, who when one was in need, others would provide assistance......a place of refuge. Then came James Cagney, the old movies, always gunned down in front of a church while the Priest his old friend, comes to his need. Why not, the guy paid for windows, organs, etc eetc etc. So the big connection is when is a church not a church and not a place of refuge - well remember what Christ did - he kicked the money changers out of the Temple.
