Gov. Gray Davis (D) yesterday received endorsements
from the
National
Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League and its California
affiliate in his re-election campaign, the
Sacramento Bee reports. Leaders of the
abortion-rights groups said that Davis has "strongly protected and
strengthened" abortion rights in the state during his tenure as governor
(Sample,
Sacramento Bee, 3/27). According to NARAL President
Kate Michelman, Davis "has a long and proven record of support for
reproductive freedom and choice and for expanding access to reproductive
health services" (NARAL
