US funded and supplied weaponry keeps Israel afloat and enables it to continue its colonial oppression and Aparthied policies. Ironically if it wasn't for this US complicity, Israel would have been forced to give up its crazy lust for 'Greater Israel' and there would have been a rational peace among all the parties by now. The real subsidy to Israel runs about 6 BBBillion a year counting all the non military grants and 'forgiven' yearly debt obligations. Much of the growth of the Israel (especially tech. centered) economy was incubated through US (Pentagon) funded military research contracts and tariff free imports and trade subsidies. No doubt about it, in the long run it would be much cheaper to pay off the Israelis so they will retire to the US sunbelt.
