Every year we hear it and see the headlines: “Peace at last…this is it! The Peace Process…then more violence in the Middle East... Israelis this, Palestinians that…more bloodshed! …Then,” New plans for peace talks, etc,” …Opps! More Jewish Settlements in the Occupied Territories, more violence…more suicide bombings... more reprisals, more diplomacy, etc, etc.” It just keeps going on and on! I appreciate and admire the numerous contributions of early Islamic culture to science, art, philosophy, music, literature and medicine, just to name a few. However, I’m no great fan of the present day Arab/Islamic world. I can’t relate to their culture, their treatment of women, and their repressive religious societies with their "Sharia law", I think that the Islamic religion, in its’ fundamentalist form, is odious and dangerous. (I know! This sounds anti-Semitic!) Countries where religion is at the political helm tend to be repressive toward their own people and certainly disdainful, if not downright hostile toward those that are secular and democratic. I’ve watched the documentary footage of Nazi slave and death camps where Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, Christians, political dissidents and the “mentally handicapped” were rounded up, forced into slavery and eventually exterminated. I watched and wondered in amazement and horror that humans would do this to one another. I had great sympathy for Israel and even supported their claim to a homeland. However, I know injustice when I see it, and over the years I’ve seen plenty of it coming from Israel’s side. Even Isreali apologists can no longer turn a blind eye to the repression, degradation and humiliation of the Palestinian people, and to what is nothing more than an Israeli “land grab”. From the get go, Israel has laid the blame for their “occupation” of Palestine on the Arabs. “Palestinians resort to terrorist/suicide bombers”? Well, duh, what do you expect from a group whose land/homes were taken from them, and then kept from establishing their own autonomous and independent state by an occupying army? What, pull down their pants and “moon” the Israeli armor and aircraft? These are acts of desperation! Incidentally, can anyone guess why the Palestinians have only rifles, rocks and suicide bombers with which to defend themselves and for trying to take back their lands, and why the other “Arabs” don’t come to their aid militarily? This violence, of course, plays right into the hands of Arab extremists, which in turn, plays right into the hands of the Zionists. A suicide bomber going off in a civilian crowd is a lot more spectacular and headlines grabbing than a protracted military occupation, ethnic genocide and murder! Round and round it goes with innocent Palestinian and Isreali women and children screaming in the middle. The Zionists milk the Holocaust, and use the “Israel will not survive” … “Israel is now at war with Arafat!”, … “Israel is now at war with terrorism!” slogans. How convenient. Now they have moral justification. Where would the Zionist be without the Holocaust? (Now that’s an interesting thought) At war with Arafat!? Give me a break! Arafat’s a Zionist whipping boy. They need him. Israeli military intelligence could have him assassinated at their pleasure whenever they want. He’s an irrelevant and a pawn. Come on, they’ve got him holed up, and playing Solitaire! Well, maybe Poker with his buddies. What a crock! Hell, why the Palestinians haven’t yet taken him out themselves is a puzzle to me? He might be of more use as a martyr. The suicide bombers will continue regardless. We know the cliché, “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter”. The history of our own country demonstrates that! Now, Osama Ben Laden? He is a terrorist, but Arafat? Come on? There are other players in that area that fit that role a lot better than him. There’s no denying that the Jewish people have been holocaust victims. The state of Israel has not, and if attacked, with it’s nuclear inventory, would inflict unacceptable damage and losses to the Arab nations around it (... unless, and here’s frightening thought for both sides, and perhaps not at all that far fetched…unless it’s being planned that way). “Never forget!” Well, who will? It’s in the history books now! I don’t want to be beaten in perpetuity with this lament. You can almost hear Sharon and other Zionist thugs – “Thank God for this wave of Islamic terrorism! It gives us the justification to label and eliminate the Palestinians who are actively fighting for their cause.” How convenient that all this “Islamic terrorism’” has recently surfaced to help convince the world of how righteous the Israelis are in their battle against Palestinian fanatics. It’s interesting that on the domestic media we see video images of suffering Israelis. People, who look, talk and act like white, middle class Americans, while the Palestinians look like, well…Semites. Not only do the Palestinians have dark complexions, but are also poorly and differently dressed and not all that clean looking. Besides, their English is not so good, either (Other than some snap shots, the atrocities committed against them are not aired in the American media). As a result the Diaspora (circa 75 AD) most of the Jewish people migrated, and eventually insinuated, educated and established themselves into European and various other societies, while along maintaining their Jewish identity. Today, as a result, they have a Western image, great financial/ political clout and influence. That kind of migration and subsequent western identity and influence did not occur for the Palestinians/Arabs. They stayed in the Middle East. For them, this westernization, historically, has just started to occur What’s ironic, is that if Israelis of today went back to the area they now live in, but in circa 75 AD, they’d be in for a shock – they would be looking at Hebrews who look like…well, like present day Arabs/Palestinians! The Isrealis claim that the land they currently occupy in the Middle East has always been theirs. Well, excuse me! Other than, “God gave this Land to us!” reason (I couldn’t help but gag as I watched Menachim Begin utter those words on TV to justify their land grab), there is no factual basis for this claim, either historically or demographically. At best, the Hebrews have coexisted in that area with the other Semitic cultures for millennia. They must do so again. Put yourself in this scene: Imagine you’re a peaceful landowner living on a farm, a place your ancestors have lived for millennia, and then these guys come in with guns and their families and tell you, “Hey, there were these fascist types in a neighborhood up north who got around to doing some really nasty things to us, like slave labor and systematic genocide. So look, we’re here to settle on your property because some other people in another neighborhood up north said we could, and besides, God gave this land to us, and we’ve got the guns to prove it.” “What is this, some kind of joke”, you say? I think I remember your having left this neighborhood about 2,000 years ago.” “No”, they say, “and not only that, we’re moving into your house, so you and your family will move to that corner over there! Yeah, right, we know there’s little water there, but we’ll send you some. Oh, and by the way, there’ll be a lot more of us coming from various other neighborhoods to live here as well. So there! Any questions? Now, you’ll also need new jobs…” Well…you get the picture…What American would stand for that? The wit, art, wisdom and humor of the Jewish people and culture are impressive and have contributed greatly, along side other world cultures, to the human tapestry. The Holocaust was a truly horrendous event that left an indelible mark on the Jewish psyche… but similar atrocities have happened to other peoples as well. The Zionists have used the Holocaust to their own advantage and ends. It should no longer be a buffer or cover for their outrages racist attitude and behavior. There are plenty of religious fanatics and fundamentalist racists all around! If you dig deep enough there’s enough ugliness written down in all the faiths - Christian, Jew and Muslim. Hell! Strong elements of the American religious right, in whose minds the Jews killed Christ, who support Israel and this Middle East conflict because it’s fulfilling prophesy, i.e., in the coming apocalypse the Jews are destroyed and the Christian righteous will be carried off in the “Rapture”. Remember the Crusades and the Inquisitions? Then there are the Jewish right-wingers (who, according to their Old Testament, perpetrated unspeakable horrors in the name of God), who believe they’re “The Chosen Ones”, i.e., they will be given control of the world by God, and gentiles are to be as slaves - no better than cattle. And the Muslim religious extremists? Well, history knows about their violent and barbaric conquests, and lately, we’ve pretty much gotten to air current dirty laundry! The Crusades are still on their minds and, to some analysts; they’re in for a show down with the West. I’m tired of it all! Who isn’t? Enough already! For years this has been going on, and I’m tired of having it imply, or accused of, being anti-Semitic on account of being against Isreali policy. There are enough real racists in all cultures and ethnic groups, including Isrealis. Hey, the Israelis can be criminals just like the next person. And, yes, they have a Mafia, too, and, yes, it works with their intelligence agency when convenient, as our agencies had with various mafias. I think it’s naïve to believe that the Zionists and their secret police, the Mossad, are above corruption, foreign espionage, terror, murder or exploitation, nor are they involved in mercenary work, but exist “only to pursue and protect security and moral ideals” Apartheid in South Africa was not tolerated. Why should it be in Israel? Israeli racist look upon the Palestinians the same way the white South African racists looked upon the indigenous people there – with disdain; a source of wage slaves. This attitude is especially fostered at an early age in the Kibbutz. I recall that not too long ago a European dictator did the same thing with the youth of his nation. The Israelis are now trying to do to the indigenous Palestinian population what the German Nazis did to them. They’ve created ghettos in Gaza and the West Bank area. Interesting how most Palestinians are Semites, while a great many Jews are not. There is no “Jewish race”, only a Jewish culture or ethnicity. So, let’s not use the words “Jew” or “Semite”, any longer folks. Instead, use “Israel” or “Israeli”. It’s a lot more accurate. Contrary to what the pro-Zionist press and media have been claiming - that it’s the Arabs who violently refuse to accept the State of Israel; that they, the Arabs, started the violence - the facts show quite the opposite to be true. There's enough anecdotal and documentary evidence to suggest that not only is this conflict, but the creation of an Israeli homeland, as well, was and is orchestrated by the Zionist in order to justify their racist agenda. So, here I am, close to sixty and tired of the psychic and financial stress from this whole mess for most of my life. This is what I think…. I think Israelis don’t want to live in the same neighborhoods, or have their children go to the same schools with “Arabs”. As far as they’re concerned, an Arabs place in the State of Israel is to take out the garbage, a purely a “racial-religious-social” attitude. No way will they remove the Israeli settlers and dismantle the settlements that are peppered throughout the occupied West bank. They need and want the water and land that’s there! The Palestinian people want it back for themselves. Both sides have incited violence toward these ends! The Zionists use the negative actions of both parties to bolster their control over the Israeli people and to justify not being able to coexist with the Palestinians. The Israeli people have suffered enough because of this, and it seems that, for the Palestinians, it’s only going to get worse! As a solution how about this? Both Israeli's and Palestinians should sign over 5 square miles of land, with Jerusalem at the center, to an international committee managed by a third party, say, a Buddhist country, for a theme park that's open to Christian, Jew and Muslim. Here they may come to bob, kneel or prostrate; wail, moan, groan, chant or sing; pray and smell the incense...whatever, and at the end of the day, the gates close and everyone goes home with their blessings and souvenirs. Everyone gets to do his or her thing. All parties’ own equal shares in the corporation, so no one's resentful or jealous, and it provides job opportunities for everyone living there. The only competition will be… who puts on the better show? Winner gets to perform it at the Olympics. I’m serious here! "Irreverent", you say? Than what? Like… mass slaughter isn’t? God would certainly enjoy watching this kind program over the suffering and carnage showing on the other channels. More likely he’s turned the set off by now, and pulled the plug as well. How about it folks? Sounds good to me and a lot better than what we've got now! In America we are free to hold and practice our Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu or Islamic beliefs, and be of Semitic, Caucasian, Negro, or Mongoloid extraction and culture. But, we are not Palestinian, Israeli, Congolese, or British Americans. If this is your attitude, I don’t think you can or should be a citizen of this country! We’re all just Americans, first and last! We need to get along and pull through this together! Believe me, I understand why many Americans of Jewish faith would have a biased sympathy for Israel and look at it through rose colored glasses. Let’s say, Italy did something that was politically or socially reprehensible, should I tolerate or support it just because I may be Catholic? Had I spoken out against the Inquisition, would that have made me a “self-loathing” Catholic or Italian? The Holocaust card has been played too often. How much longer will this insanity in the Middle East go on? Most likely until the oil in that area is exhausted, or…? Most people in this country have formed their opinion of the events in the Middle East based on misinformation and propaganda, and sometimes out-right-lies, feed to them by those in power for simple the purpose of maintaining and exploiting their control. I believe that if we look deeper, we’ll find the real reasons why there is support for, what I see as, a divisive and destructive Zionist agenda, and for the perpetuating the tensions in the Middle East. Israelis must leave the occupied territories and return it to the Palestinians, and to legally allow them a homeland as well! If people would take the time to find the real facts (I’d be happy to oblige), they would find things to be quite different. If what I’ve stated is untrue, please, by all means point it out to me. I’m certainly open to considering facts that contradict the information presented here. I may appear opinionated, biased and angry, but I’m not prejudiced, racist or mean-spirited! At its core this issue seems simple, but I know there are factors involved that probably make this a lot more complicated! Who knows? I may even change my opinion. I just want to know the truth!
