Reilly was subpoenaed to a state Department of Social Services hearing where he would have faced questions about sexual abuse by priests, the DSS canceled the hearing and dropped a yearlong inquiry into child neglect charges....In 1999, the diocese paid Edward Gagne of Spencer $300,000 to settle a lawsuit in which he accused Rev. Inzerillo and another priest of sexual abuse. Rev. Inzerillo was placed on leave by the late Bishop Timothy J. Harrington shortly after the suit was filed several years ago. Mrs. Jean found out that her son's physician labeled her with Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy shortly after she first complained about Rev. Inzerillo. The physician in question, Dr. John McLaughlin, was also head of the St. Leo's school board at the time. Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy is a condition that many in the mental health profession believe is a serious mental disorder that can put children at risk of illness or death. People with the condition are generally caretakers who deliberately make a child ill to gain attention for themselves as a concerned and caring person. It also refers to people who are convinced that a child is more seriously ill than he or she really is. (Mk's). the day was beautiful and hot and the sights were horrific. The devastation of 1400 houses in the middle of the refugee camp is total and the houses around are also damaged badly. It does truly look as an earth quacke. The people we saw (mostly men but few women too) are all schocked and quiet. So were we. There is no machinary to look for dead bodies believed to be trapped under the ruins and there seem to be very little anyone could do without major rescue teams. Many people are stranded in different places without yet knowing were other members of their family is. Truly an amazing sight of horror. We also visited the hospital near by and saw the two ambulances hit by bullets and smashed by tanks. Inside the poverty is heart breaking and the hospital itself was also damaged partly. Jenin itself feels like a city under siege (which it is really). Many houses were hit or damaged and there are few people (mainly men) in the streets. Cars smashed and badly hit, and so electric poles and other traffic signs. The woman who guided us told how she survived the curfew with her children with no food, water and electricity and ... no phones or cell-phones working. We were met by the city mayor and governor and they both noticed with thanks the present of peace groups in Israel and insisted that nothing will break the spirit of the palestinian people. The journey had a short item on the evening news of TV 1st channel. As Tamar Guzansky said Israel will have to live with the shameful memory of these crimes for long time to come. Crossing back to "Israel" you feel amazed how the world keeps on going as if nothing happened...
