CIA, No. 00-2498 (D.D.C. Questions on abuse aid treatment - 05/10/02 By Martin Johnston " Dr John Read, a senior Auckland University psychology lecturer involved in the training, said child abuse and neglect were strongly linked with the development of mental illnesses as an adult. He cited an Otago University study of more than 2000 women which found that those who had been sexually abused were five times more likely than the rest to have been admitted to a psychiatric hospital. The study, published in the Lancet and the British Journal of Psychiatry, also found that those who had been subjected to the more severe forms of abuse, involving genital contact, were 16 times more likely than the non-abused women to have been admitted. URGENT - Calls Needed to Senator Byrd's office to Stop the War
It is urgent to call Sen. Robert Byrd's office (202-224-3954) and ask the
Senator to filibuster against the war resolution of the Administration (and
Dem leadership). His office is taking a poll on whether he should do this.
We need to swamp the offices to urge him on. He has been one of the few
courageous voices on this. His filibuster may be the only impediment to the
war plans, and it may spark demonstrations of support in DC and around the
country. You can leave a message at his number after hours.
