The Israeli military intelligence has carried out many such instances in the past although the New York Times does not always report them as such. Zionist history is full of terror, bombings, and massacres, many of which were meant as provocation for some strategic advantage. There is evidence that some of the bombings in Israel were such staged events. The car bomb in Jerusalem which later became a "suicide bomber" may have been one of these. The attack on the USS Liberty in which 34 Americans died in 1967 was one such event, the intention was to create hostility between Egypt and the USA by attacking a defenseless U.S. Navy vessel in neutral waters. The Israeli prior knowledge of the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut and the prior knowledge of the WTC attacks (e.g. Odigo instant messages warning of the 911 attacks which arrived in Tel Aviv hours before the buildings were bombed) are others. Israeli prior knowledge of the attacks on the WTC is certain. "Little Drummer Girl" by John LeCarre is all about Mossad faked-bombings in Germany for political/strategic advantage. Benjamin Netanyzhu, the author of "The War on Terror: How the West Can Win" (1986) and Ariel Sharon play that kind of game. It is wishful thinking to deny that they would carry out a provocative incident in order to "kick-start" the war against Iraq that they so desperately want.
