$1M ATOM BUNG EXCLUSIVE: Outrage over BNFL's cash donation to Dubya's party

NUCLEAR firm BNFL has given more than $1million of taxpayers' cash to
President George Bush's Republican party and US lobbyists.
The state-owned company used the money - about £660,000 - to push its
nuclear agenda in the US.
BNFL, which manages fuel and waste and runs Britain's oldest nuclear
reactors, announced record annual losses of £3.6billion up to March. And
last month it had to be bailed out by a £500million Government handout.
The rest of the nuclear power industry was privatised six years ago -
becoming British Energy.
BNFL is lobbying Bush for backing to build new nuclear reactors in the US.
But Lib Dem environment spokesman Norman Baker said: "It is outrageous that
taxpayers' money is being used to support the richest nation in the world
and, in the process, buy favours."
