All those things also make it tough.
But that list is nowhere near comprehensive – and extremely one-sided, as you know.
I could jump in and list all the things you’ve ignored, and probably many others, and continue this ridiculous back and forth cycle of violence and blame, just like the idiots on all sides of this conflict in the middle east are doing.
We could rehash a history of violence that’s turtles turtles turtles all the way down – or- we could try to establish a common vocabulary based on fact and not bias that goes deeper than imagining “you started it” is a justification for violence.
The facts:
Palestine was a huge territory. Jews were forbidden from living east of the Jordan river in Palestine. They were confined to the 20 percent or so of Palestine west of the Jordan.
But it was all Palestine.
To say Palestinians are being forced “out of Palestine and into Jordan” is based on political mythology rather than any fact of where Palestine was and where Jordan is. It would be like saying Parsis are being forced out of Persia and into Iraq.
My comment was not aimed at one side or another (unlike your single-sided response.) It was a statement that unless people share a vocabulary and clarity of communication there is no hope of peace. Ever. To pretend Jordan is less a creation imposed by the British than Israel is, is fantasy. These countries were cut out of the British territory called Palestine.
Let’s try to establish a common history and vocabulary so that conversation can take place.

Its sentences like this, that ignore history that are so infuriating, and make it difficult for any progress to be made. Jordan is Palestine. I do not support forced relocation, but being forced into Jordan IS NOT being forced OUT of Palestine. Jordan Is 4/5 of what was Palestine – Israel 1
Actually what makes it difficult for progress to be made are American-born ruffians who are called "settlers" by the controlled press and the fact that their violent theft of land is backed up with the full force of the Israeli army with the support of the U.S.
What makes it tough is killing in cold blood children stone-throwers with American supplied military arms, what makes it tough is the illegal practice of "collective punishment" and the obscene apartheid that Israel practices...what makes it tough is the fact that Israel has and continues to violate scores of U.N. resoultions while at the same time attempting to convince Bush Jr. to go to war with Iraq because of it's alleged violation of U.N. resolutions.
What makes it tough is a rogue nation who thinks the rules don't apply to themselves.
Bill.
